INTERSTUDENT UwS 2024

We invite foreign students of the University of Siedlce to take part in the INTERSTUDENT UwS 2024 competition.

 
The Interstudent UwS competition is an initiative of the Center for Polish Language and Culture, under the patronage of His Magnificence the Rector of the University of Siedlce. The competition is addressed to UwS students and doctoral students with foreigner status, full-time and part-time fields of study, all degrees, as well as NAWA scholarship holders and participants of international exchange programs who are over 18 years of age on the date of submitting the competition application.
 
The call for applications lasts from March 14, 2024 to April 14, 2024.
 
 

Regulations of the INTERSTUDENT UWS 2024

General information

 

1. These regulations specify the conditions of participation in the INTERSTUDENT UWS 2024 competition, hereinafter referred to as the "competition".

2. The organizer of the competition is University of Siedlce (hereinafter referred to as the "University", "UwS" or "Organizer"), with its registered office at ul. Konarskiego 2, 08-110 Siedlce, NIP: 821-001-44-90, REGON: 000001471, including the Center of Polish Language and Culture operating at the University (hereinafter referred to as "OJP UwS") and the Research and International Cooperation Office - Welcome Center (hereinafter referred to as "WC UwS").

3. All information regarding the competition is posted on the OJP UwS website www.ojp.uws.edu.pl.

4. The mission of the competition is to promote the University in the international environment and in Poland and to activate and integrate foreigners in the UwS community.

5. The aim of the competition is to select the best project for a campaign promoting UwS or a specific organizational unit of the University internationally, including its teaching and scientific offer, hereinafter referred to as the "campaign project".

6. A project of a campaign promoting UwS is understood as a description of an action or actions aimed at achieving a specific and measurable goal, together with a comprehensive definition of the resources necessary for implementation and a description of the expected impact and planned effects of the campaign.

7. As a result of the competition and based on the ideas included in the competition applications, a UwS promotional campaign will be created, which may be implemented in the subsequent years of the University's activity.

8. The Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation supervises the proper conduct of the competition procedure and cooperation with foreign countries.

 

II Recipients of the competition and conditions of participation

 

  1. The competition is open to UwS students and doctoral students with foreigner status, full-time and part-time studies, all degrees, as well as NAWA scholarship holders and participants of international exchange programs, hereinafter referred to as "Participants", who are over 18 years of age on the date of submitting the competition application.
  2. Competition Participants prepare and submit applications for participation in the competition, using the form attached as Annex 1 to these regulations.
  3. Applications together with the project (description) of the campaign may be prepared in Polish or English.
  4. Each Participant can submit only one application.
  5. The competition Participant must be the author of the campaign design and the exclusive owner of the copyright to this design.
  6. The application should include all information regarding the implementation of the presented promotional campaign.
  7. An integral part of the application may be a multimedia work presenting the Competition Participant's original project, e.g. a multimedia presentation, film, recording, application or website, provided that it is submitted as an attachment to the application form or on a storage medium. Files should be prepared in formats that can be opened on PC computers.

III. Competition schedule

  1. Commencement of recruitment and publication of the application form by March 14, 2024.
  2. The call for applications is open until April 14, 2024.
  3. The evaluation of applications is carried out until May 6, 2024.
  4. Announcement of the results and award ceremony during the University Day on May 15, 2024.

 IV Rules for selecting winners and prizes

1. The winners of the competition will be selected by the Competition Committee, appointed by the Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, based on the analysis of the submitted applications.

2. During the deliberations, the Competition Committee will evaluate the submitted applications and award prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.

3. When assessing applications, the Competition Committee will take into account criteria such as: analysis of the needs to which the campaign responds, campaign activities with justification and campaign results and their impact, feasibility of the plan and justification of the planned expenditure.

4. The competition provides prizes in the amount of:

1) for taking first place – PLN 3,000;

2) for taking second place – PLN 1,600 or covering the costs of accommodation in the UwS Student Dormitory in a double room for one semester (5 months);

3) for taking third place – PLN 1,000.

5. A flat-rate income tax of 10% of the winnings will be charged on the prize, in accordance with Art. 30 section 1 point 2 of the Personal Income Tax Act (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2024, item 226, as amended)

6. The Organizer reserves the right that the Competition Committee may not select any winner, not award individual prizes, award ex aequo prizes or change the number and amount of prizes.

7. The organizer is not responsible for the inability to deliver the prize for reasons beyond its control, in particular if the competition Participant provided incorrect or untrue data.

 

V Personal data protection

1. Personal data of competition Participants are protected in accordance with Art. 13 section 1 and section 2 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April

2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (hereinafter "GDPR").

2. The administrator of Participants' personal data is the University of Siedlce, based at in Siedlce (08-110) at ul. Konarskiego 2, represented by the Rector.

4. Participants' personal data are processed for the purposes of:

1) being selected to participate in the competition pursuant to Art. 6 section 1 letter e GDPR or providing information about the competition pursuant to Art. 6 section 1 letter e GDPR;

2) registering participation in the competition in order to communicate with Participants in order to organize the competition, document its course, publish information about the winners on the basis of the implementation of public tasks (Article 6(1)(c, e) of the GDPR) in connection with the provisions of the Civil Code;

3) documentation of the competition by processing personal data of competition Participants pursuant to Art. 6 section 1 letter a, e GDPR;

4) publication of the competition results in order to disseminate information about the competition results and its winners, pursuant to Art. 6 section 1 letter e GDPR.

5. If the basis for the processing of Participants' personal data is their consent, participants have the right to withdraw it at any time.

6. By participating in the competition, the Participant consents to the processing of his or her personal data in order to participate in the competition.

7. The data will not be made available to external entities, except for cases provided for by law.

8. Participants' data will be stored for the period necessary for proper implementation and settlement of the competition - 5 years from the end of the calendar year in which the competition was resolved.

9. The Participant has the right to access his/her data, the right to rectify, delete, limit processing, the right to object, the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

10. Providing personal data by the Participant is a condition for participation in the competition. The consequence of not providing personal data will be the inability to participate in the competition.

11. The Participant's personal data will not be processed in an automated manner and will not be subject to profiling

12. The Participant has the right to lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office if he/she considers that the processing of his/her personal data violates the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation.

 

VI Complaints

1. Participants should submit complaints regarding the competition in writing to the Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation within 7 days from the date of announcement of the competition results. Complaints submitted after this date will not be considered.

2. The complaint should include the title of the competition, the name and surname of the Participant, his address and a detailed description and justification of the complaint.

3. The Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation shall immediately consider the submitted complaint and informs the applicant about its decision in this matter. The decision of the Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation is final and cannot be appealed against.

VII Final Provisions

1. Participant's participation in the competition is tantamount to acceptance of these regulations and a declaration that the campaign project submitted to the competition was prepared personally.

2. Submitting competition applications also means that the Participant declares that the submitted campaign designs and multimedia works do not violate the rights of third parties, in particular they do not violate their property and personal copyrights. In the event of a third party making claims arising from the violation of the rights specified above, the Competition Participant, as the solely responsible person, will compensate the Organizer for the costs incurred in connection with filing claims for damages against him, releasing the Organizer from any liabilities arising in this respect.

3. If the Organizer decides to use, in whole or in part, the winning campaign project(s) and its/their implementation to promote the University, the Competition Participant or Participants selected as winners of the 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize undertakes/ -are committed to free, unlimited time and territorial transfer to the University in Siedlce, copyrights to this project and its copies, on the basis of a separate agreement.

4. The Organizer reserves the right to change the content of these regulations, while ensuring that the rights of the Participants acquired before making the change will be fully respected.

5. If the Participant is found to have violated the provisions of these regulations or provided false data, the Organizer excludes the Participant from participating in the competition.

6. The Organizer is not responsible for any damage to media containing materials attached to the competition application or their loss during their delivery to the Organizer's office.

7. The regulations come into force on the day the competition is announced.

8. In matters not regulated by these regulations, the Organizer will decide.
